Pretty Much Dead exhibits the ability to rip the heart from your chest and out through your ears. If you can’t feel the pain of disappointment that was the seed of creativity for the band, you might be a sociopath. During the great plague of 2020, a chance relocation merged ex-members of Black Crosses, Sic Waiting, and Yankee Brutal into their hometown of Sacramento, California.

A metaphorical rollercoaster of almost success stories for all 3 previous bands, nearly snuffed the drive entirely out of P.M.D. members, Wesley, Austyn, Andrew, and Steven. Leading to the name, was a low key jab at the feeling of futility that comes with starting a new band, well into your 30’s, “Once you’re in your 30’s you’re pretty much dead” – Wesley. However, the idea of a multi-sub-genre combining project that would allow them to write in any fashion that inspiration lead them to, was exactly enough to birth what would come to be Pretty Much Dead.

Since playing their first show, the band has quickly moved from some of the smallest venues in Sacramento, to some of the largest. In 2024, they will begin releasing their first album – in a four part series that accompanies video – which promises to round out an other worldly concept album that leads the listener through the depths of despair, the intensity of anger, the flicker of hope, and the embrace of acceptance.
